Oral history interview with Clifton Long, 1980 May 13.

Interview with Clifton Long concerning his experiences as Vice-President and General Sales Manager of Tex Tan Western Leather Company in Yoakum, Texas. Long discusses his family background, the Depression in Yoakum, his experiences in the Army and as prisoner-of-war of the Germans during World War II, and his employment as assistant personnel manager and salesman for Tex Tan. He also talks about the Tex Tan product line, the sale of the business to Charles Tandy and the company split, hiring sales personnel, the sales territory, and Charles Tandy. Young explains his view of Yoakum as the "leather capital of the Southwest," the changes in the saddle product line, competitors, training sales personnel, advertising products, and his civic activities.
